Are Automatic Roller Garage Doors Safe?
Automatic Roller Garage Doors April 12th, 2010
Are automatic roller garage doors safe? They’re probably safer than the standard garage door that you already have installed in your home! Roller garage doors have been used for years in the commercial arena, and are now becoming very popular for home use. In this post I want to share with you why they are as safe, if not safer, than the regular garage door so that you can use them in your home with confidence.
The basic safety features that are built into other garage doors are also present in automatic roller ones. When the garage is on its way down, it will stop and reverse if it runs into something. Also, there are sensors that are installed at the ground level that will stop the door should anything pass by them. Both of these safety measures are there to prevent kids and cars from getting pinned under a falling garage door.
Another major safety benefit that roller garage doors have is the lack of a giant spring that powers them. This spring can be seen on the side or on the top of many standard garage doors. Some roller doors will have these, but they are usually encased in the box that the door rolls into. Should this spring break on your current door, it will shoot through walls with incredible force. Also, kids can get their fingers stuck in them if they are on the side of the garage door.
The biggest benefit that roller doors provide is safety from burglars. They are much more difficult to break into than other garage door types, so they protect your family and your valuables much better.
Automatic roller garage doors are the smarter, safer choice when you are garage door shopping. As you can see, they provide the same safety benefits, plus many more!
